HKU Innovation Week 2026 Showcases 120+ Research Innovations

The University of Hong Kong (HKU) will host the Main Event of its flagship event, HKU Innovation Week 2026 on Wednesday, 14 October, 2026, at the Grand Hall, Lee Shau Kee Lecture Centre, Centennial Campus of the University of Hong Kong. 

Returning on an expanded scale under the theme “The Innovation Reef: Where Ideas Breed and Thrive”, this year’s programme will bring together more than 1,000 representatives from government, industry, academia, research and the investment community to foster cross-disciplinary and cross-sector collaborations across the innovation ecosystem.

On the occasion, HKU will launch new initiatives to deepen collaboration among the government, industry, academia, research and investment communities. Event Highlights: 

1.   Exclusive Media Tour | 10:30 am – 11:30 am
A guided tour of the RAISe+ and featured deep-tech exhibitions; meet founders and research teams of the five internationally renowned HKU-incubated startups. Gain firsthand insights into their technologies, pathways to commercialisation, and experiences of entering overseas markets. 

2.   120+ Innovative Project Exhibitions | 9:00 am – 6:00 pm
Explore cutting-edge innovations spanning biotechnology and medicine, smart living, architecture and engineering, and sustainability. The exhibition will be open to media throughout the day. 

3.   HKU Entrepreneurship Engine Fund x DEFTA Joint Fund First Close Ceremony
Channel essential “patient capital” into high-potential hard-tech projects and startups emerging from HKU. 

4.   HKU Strategic Partnership Alliance for Research and Commercialisation (SPARC) Launch Ceremony
High-profile strategic alliance to forge deep connections between research talent, capital and industry partners, with the aim of propelling home-grown innovation into international markets.

5.   HKU Impact Awards Presentation
Honour HKU individuals and research projects that have made outstanding contributions to society. 

6.   Fireside Chat: From Lab Bench to Commercialisation
Keynote by Professor Robert Langer, Institute Professor, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), renowned as the 'Edison of Medicine', followed by a discussion among technology and investment leaders on translating research discoveries into real-world applications. 

7.   Founders Spotlights
Five founders of internationally recognised HKU startups will share their entrepreneurial journeys and commercialisation successes.
