HKU Autumn Career Fair 2026 Sets New Record in Scale
The University of Hong Kong (HKU) successfully concluded the HKU Autumn Career Fair 2026 (the Fair), attracting over 14,000 student and graduate visits over seven days from 14 to 18 September and 21 to 22 September 2026. As the largest edition of the Fair to date, it brought together more than 200 employers across three dedicated recruitment themes, offering HKU students and graduates an unprecedented breadth of career opportunities.
This year’s Fair was built around the core concept of “Grow. Hustle. Connect.”, reflecting the proactive mindset that HKU encourages students to embrace in their professional development: “Grow” focused on Government opportunities, with more than 30 HKSAR Government departments participating in the Fair. “Hustle” highlighted Hong Kong’s employment market, bringing together over 100 employers from the commercial and NGO sectors. “Connect” showcased opportunities in the Greater Bay Area and other cities in the Chinese Mainland, broadening students’ career horizons beyond Hong Kong.
The Fair recorded remarkable growth in scale and scope compared with the previous year. The number of participating organisations increased by over 25%, while full-time and internship opportunities rose by more than 80%, from approximately 10,000 last year to over 18,000 this year. The Greater China theme, held on 21 and 22 September, saw the most exponential growth—vacancies in the GBA increased more than ninefold, while opportunities in other Chinese Mainland cities grew sevenfold.
Professor Jay Siegel, Vice-President and Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Teaching and Learning), highlighted the significance of the Fair’s expanding scale:
“At HKU, our goal is not simply to prepare students to adapt to the job market, but to nurture graduates who will help shape it. The Career Fair creates an important dialogue between talented students and employers seeking talent, enabling students to understand emerging and unmet needs, identify opportunities for innovation and entrepreneurship, and contribute to the continued development of Hong Kong, Asia and the world.”
Professor Kelvin Yeung, Dean of Student Affairs, emphasised the importance of providing students with comprehensive career development support:
“Career preparation extends beyond connecting students with employment opportunities. Through a wide range of activities and personalised services, such as the CV Clinic, Personality Test and AI Professional Photo Booth at the Fair, we empower students to better understand their strengths, enhance their professional readiness and approach their career journeys with greater confidence.”
A distinctive highlight of this year’s Fair was the incorporation of technology-inspired elements, including robotic performances and AI-generated music. These creative features demonstrated the growing influence of emerging technologies and reinforced HKU’s commitment to preparing students for an increasingly technology-driven future of work.
Following the success of the Autumn Career Fair 2026, HKU will host the Spring Career Fair in January 2027. The event will continue to connect HKU students and graduates with employers across diverse industries and geographic markets, further strengthening HKU’s role as a bridge between emerging talent and industry.
